Filming Freedom: Behind the Shot with JoltBike & the Velotric N2X
Sometimes the best roads… aren’t roads at all.
That line kicked off our latest shoot — a cinematic ride across one of the most iconic stretches of the Great Allegheny Passage in Ohiopyle State Park.
We set out to capture what the Velotric Nomad 2X is all about: silence, strength, and adventure. And this time, the goal wasn’t just product footage — it was storytelling. Showcasing the kind of places this full-suspension, fat-tire e-bike was built to explore.
The Location: Ohiopyle’s Iconic Rail Trail Bridge
There’s no better backdrop than the sweeping trestle bridge in Ohiopyle — suspended over the Youghiogheny River, framed by forest, and steeped in Pennsylvania rail history. This section of the GAP Trail stretches for miles and draws riders from across the country. With smooth crushed limestone and wide-open views, it was the perfect place to let the N2X roll.
The Gear: Drones, Gimbals & Dirty Boots
This wasn’t your average content shoot. We packed:
- A DJI drone with tracking lock for those wide cinematic flyovers
- A handheld gimbal rig for low-angle tracking shots
- Two mirrorless cameras for ride-by and stationary beauty shots
- And a whole lot of patience for waiting on the right light, wind, and trail traffic
We shot everything in natural light — no lighting rigs, no studio fakery. Just real riding on real terrain.
The Rider: One Bike, Endless Freedom
The Velotric N2X is made for this. Full air suspension absorbs the chatter, 4” wide Kenda fat tires hug the trail, and the UL-certified 750W motor provides silent power over long distances — up to 75 miles per charge. On a ride like this, range anxiety doesn’t exist.
The bike carried effortlessly across the bridge while we followed with the drone and leapfrogged ahead for B-roll angles. We even captured audio for the final voiceover live on-site, keeping things raw and authentic.
